What the ORC does on your Chrysler

Chrysler shares the corporate Mopar airbag computer, the ORC, with Dodge, Jeep and Ram. On a 300, a Pacifica or a Town & Country, the ORC manages the supplemental restraint system. At every startup it sends a test current through the airbag squib circuits to confirm the wiring is good, then fires the restraints in a crash and records the event.

That recorded deployment locks the module and keeps the airbag light on, and an OBD2 scanner will not clear it. We reset your original Chrysler ORC in our shop, erase the stored crash data and hard codes, and send it back factory-ready. It keeps its Mopar configuration, so you reinstall your own module and it works the moment you bolt it back in.

Where the Chrysler ORC is located

On most Chryslers the ORC is mounted to the floor pan on the transmission tunnel, under the center console between the front seats, secured with three nuts to a welded mount. The minivans, like the Town & Country and Pacifica, follow the same center-floor location under the console trim.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable and wait about two minutes for the system to discharge before touching any restraint wiring. Then remove the console trim, unbolt the ORC, and release the connector. The location is consistent across the 300, 200, Pacifica and Town & Country.
