The 300 received a new interior for 2011, so wheel and dash airbags do not carry backward to the 2005 through 2010 cars, and every 300 part is listed with the exact years it fits. No Chrysler 300 parts are listed at this time, so submit the year and the part on the request a part page or call 501-988-0611 and we will check availability. To keep your own hardware, mail the occupant restraint controller in for a crash data reset and include the belts with it.
Chrysler names the airbag computer on your 300 the occupant restraint controller, the ORC. It is the brain of the supplemental restraint system. The die-cast aluminum housing holds the microprocessor, an impact sensor, a safing sensor, and an energy storage capacitor. It sends a test current to the squibs, fires the airbags and seat belt pretensioners in a crash, and then writes a permanent deployment record into its memory. That record is what keeps the airbag light on after an accident.
Once the crash data is stored, the ORC locks. A standard OBD2 scanner can read the codes but cannot erase the deployment data, because it lives at the module level. We reset your original 300 ORC in our shop, wipe the crash data and hard codes, and return it factory-ready. It keeps its original Chrysler coding and your VIN, so it plugs straight back in and works on the first key cycle. A mail-in airbag module reset runs about 80 percent less than a dealer ORC because you keep the controller the car already trusts.
On the 300 the ORC is mounted on the floor at the center of the car, on a steel bracket welded to the top of the transmission tunnel just behind the front seat crossmember, directly behind the gear selector and beneath the center floor console. To reach it you remove the center console, which exposes the ORC bolted to the tunnel with three screws, then release its connectors.
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery, and let the system discharge before you touch any SRS connector. The airbags and pretensioners can still deploy for a short time after the power is removed. The ORC sits in the same center-tunnel spot across the first generation LX 300 and the second generation LD 300, which shares its platform with the Dodge Charger. If you cannot find yours, call us at 501-988-0611.
The 300 uses Chrysler's B-series SRS codes. Deployment and crash-data codes clear with a reset. Squib and circuit codes can point to a part. Scan yours and look it up.
We handle the ORC and the seat belts on both 300 generations, including the 300C and SRT8. These are the ones we see most.

We reset your original 300 ORC and clear the stored crash data so the airbag light goes out. We also rebuild 300 single, dual, and triple-stage seat belt pretensioners and free locked retractors. You keep your factory Chrysler parts, cleared and tested, with the coding Chrysler built them with.
Chrysler and Dodge both run the ORC. Here are a few more we work on every week.
