What the diagnosis sensor unit does on your Infiniti

Infiniti shares its parent Nissan's airbag computer, the air bag diagnosis sensor unit. On a Q50, a QX60 or a G37, it is the control unit for the supplemental restraint system. It watches the airbag circuits through the spiral cable, fires the airbags and pretensioners in a crash, and records the deployment in permanent memory.

That stored crash data locks the unit and keeps the airbag light on, and a scan tool cannot erase it. We reset your original Infiniti diagnosis sensor unit in our shop, clear the crash data and hard codes, and send it back factory-ready. Dealers usually quote a new unit plus programming for an Infiniti. Resetting your own part costs a fraction of that.

Where the Infiniti diagnosis sensor unit is located

On most Infinitis the air bag diagnosis sensor unit sits under the center console on the floor tunnel between the front seats, the same architecture as the Nissan lineup. On a Q50 or QX60 you pull the console trim and surrounding panels to reach it, then unbolt it from the floor.

Disconnect the battery and let the system discharge before you handle any of the yellow SRS connectors. Then unbolt the sensor unit and release its connector. The exact location shifts a little between the Q50, QX60, QX80, G35 and G37. Call us if you need help finding yours.
