What happens to your Traverse's module after a crash

The Chevrolet Traverse uses the SDM, GM's Sensing and Diagnostic Module, to run its supplemental restraint system. On a three-row crossover this size, the SDM monitors impact sensors front and side, decides whether to fire the front bags, the side curtains that protect all three rows, and the seat belt pretensioners, then records every deployment permanently in its memory.

That stored crash data is the reason the airbag light stays lit after an accident. The Traverse's SDM reads its own deployment history, sets hard codes, and locks. A generic OBD2 scanner cannot erase it, because the data is held at the module level. The light burns through every key cycle until the module is reset in our shop.

We take your original Traverse SDM, clear the locked crash data and hard codes, and return it reading factory-ready. It keeps its original GM calibration and your VIN, so it plugs back into your crossover and works on the first key cycle. You reinstall the same module GM built for that Traverse.
