The 2018 and newer Tiguan is a longer vehicle than the one it replaced, and when it is optioned with the third row there is another pair of belts and a longer roof curtain to account for, so the seat count comes up on nearly every Tiguan order we take. No Tiguan parts are listed at this time. Why your Tiguan airbag light will not go off

Volkswagen calls the airbag computer on your Tiguan the airbag control module, sometimes the ACU. It runs the supplemental restraint system. It watches the impact sensors, fires the airbags and seat belt pretensioners in a crash, and writes a permanent deployment record, often with a supply-voltage code that keeps the warning light on. Once that record is stored, the module locks and the airbag light will not clear on its own.

A generic OBD2 scanner cannot erase that data, because it sits at the module level. VW Tiguan modules are also coded to the car, and a fresh module from the dealer has to be registered to the VIN before it works, so dealers tend to push a new coded unit. We reset your original Tiguan airbag control module in our shop, clear the stored crash data and hard codes, and return it factory-ready with its coding intact. It plugs straight back in, which is how a mail-in airbag module reset saves you up to 80 percent against a new coded module.

Where the Tiguan airbag control module is located

On the Tiguan the airbag control module sits in the center of the car, under the center console on the floor tunnel between the front seats, ahead of the shifter. To reach it you remove the center console and console trim, which exposes the module bolted to the floor, then release its connector. The first generation Tiguan and the larger second generation share the same general center-floor location.

Disconnect the battery and let the system discharge before touching any SRS connector. Because the module is coded to the car, note the existing coding before removal if you ever consider a swap. The module sits on the floor tunnel across the first generation Tiguan from 2009 to 2017 and the second generation from 2018 on, including the longer Tiguan with the third row.
