Satellite sensors sit out at the corners and edges of the vehicle and report impacts back to the airbag module. B1115 means the Nissan module stopped getting usable messages from the right hand satellite sensor.
A satellite sensor detects impact forces at its mounting location and communicates that to the airbag control unit, which uses the input to decide what should deploy and how fast. B1115 is set when communication with the right side sensor fails, whether the sensor went quiet, the messages arrived corrupted, or the circuit between them broke.
The failure can sit at either end or in between. Satellite sensors mount in body structure that sees water, road salt, and collision repair, and their wiring runs through the sill or pillar where trim comes on and off. A sensor with no supply looks identical to a dead sensor from where the module sits, so the supply side has to be checked before the part is condemned.
The airbag module watches this communication line continuously, making B1115 a live circuit fault. It resolves when the sensor starts reporting again. Crash data belongs to a different category: written permanently when the system deploys, immune to scan tool clearing, and removable only by a module reset after the repairs are made.
No reset restores communication with a sensor that is disconnected or dead. Repair the circuit or replace the sensor, then verify the module sees it. Confirm power and ground at the sensor connector before buying a sensor, since a supply fault mimics a failed sensor exactly. Inspect the connector for corrosion and the harness for cuts and pinch damage where it passes through the sill. Pay extra attention if the right side of the car has been repaired before.
