B1113: Right Satellite Sensor Fault

What B1113 means

Satellite sensors sit away from the control unit, out at the body structure on the right side, and report acceleration back to the module. B1113 is stored when the module reads that sensor as out of order rather than simply out of range. The internal electronics have failed their own self test, or the sensor has stopped answering the way the module expects.

Because the fault sits inside the sensor, the module cannot use its input to decide when to fire. The system stays disabled until a known good sensor answers correctly. Mounting matters here too. A satellite sensor that was loosened, dropped, or bolted back with the wrong hardware can report values the module refuses to trust, and any sensor that lived through a previous impact is suspect.

Common causes

• A right satellite sensor that has failed its internal self test and needs replacement
• A sensor that was involved in a previous right side impact and then reused
• A loose or improperly torqued mounting bolt that changes how the sensor reads acceleration
• Corrosion at the sensor connector from water in the right footwell or door sill
• Damaged harness between the sensor and the control unit after body or fender work

Crash data or hardware fault?

This one is filed as a hardware fault, meaning the module is reporting a part that has failed internally rather than a resistance reading it can watch change. Stored crash data is a different animal. Crash data is written once, after a deployment, and no scan tool erases it. B1113 describes the sensor's condition right now.

Does our reset clear it?

A mail-in reset clears stored codes and crash data out of the control unit, and it will take B1113 out of memory. If the right satellite sensor is still bad, the module writes the code again the next time it runs its startup check. Replace or repair the sensor first, then send the module in if it is also locked from a deployment.

Which makes throw it

Infiniti and Nissan both use B1113 with the same meaning across their shared restraint platforms, so a Nissan sedan and an Infiniti built on the same architecture read the code the same way.

What to do next

Pull the right front trim and look at the sensor connector before ordering anything, since a green or wet connector explains the fault without a new part. Check the mounting bolt and the bracket for signs of a past hit.
