B1013 is a Nissan and Infiniti control unit code from the B1011 to B1015 block. The air bag diagnosis sensor unit failed an internal check and logged a fault against itself. It shows up often on cars where the module has already been swapped once.

The detecting condition reads that the diagnosis sensor unit is out of order, and the possible cause is an internal breakdown in that unit. The unit does more than store codes. It holds the crash sensors, the logic that decides when to fire each restraint, and the backup power supply. When one of its internal checks fails, the whole system stops arming, which is why the lamp comes on and stays on.
Where B1013 gets interesting is on a car with a replacement module. A control unit that came out of a different vehicle brings its history with it, including whatever faults and crash records were already written into memory before it ever reached your car.

A unit taken out of a collision-damaged car can hold both a real internal fault and a locked crash record from the accident that put it in the yard. Clearing one does not address the other, so both need to be identified before that unit goes into a car anyone is going to drive.
It depends on what the unit is holding. Stored crash data from a prior deployment clears with our airbag module reset, and that is routine work. A genuine internal breakdown does not clear, because there is nothing in memory to correct. We test the unit and tell you which one you are dealing with before doing anything else.
