11-1X is a Honda and Acura circuit code on the driver airbag first inflator. The SRS unit measured more resistance in that firing loop than it allows, or no continuity at all, so it switched deployment off and lit the warning lamp.
The SRS unit pushes a small test current through the driver airbag first inflator loop and reads the resistance that comes back. An open or high reading means the current is not getting through the way the module expects. Honda and Acura store 11-1X for that condition, disable the driver bag, and hold the light on until the loop reads normal again.
That loop runs from the SRS unit, through the dash harness, up the steering column, across the cable reel behind the wheel, and into the inflator. A break anywhere along the path looks identical to the module. The cable reel is the one piece in the path that moves every time somebody steers, so it wears in a way the fixed harness does not.
11-1X reports a live electrical reading, not a stored crash record. The SRS unit retests the loop every time the key comes on, so the code drops out on its own once resistance falls back inside the window. Crash data behaves the opposite way. After a deployment the module writes a permanent record that no scan tool can erase.
Clearing 11-1X with a scan tool accomplishes nothing while the loop is still open. The module runs its self test seconds later, reads the same value, and sets the code again. Repair the cable reel, connector, or inflator first. If the car also deployed and the SRS unit is locked on crash data behind this fault, that stored record is what our mail-in reset handles.
Acura and Honda both carry 11-1X with the same definition. The number in front names the circuit and the digit after the dash describes the fault type, so the reading stays consistent between the two brands.
Pull the driver airbag and inspect the connector at the inflator first, because a latch that never seated fully accounts for more of these than any other cause and costs nothing to rule out. With the bag on the bench, measure across the cable reel leads at the column to separate the reel from the airbag. A reel that reads open gets replaced. Trace the wiring and connectors first. If the module still holds the fault after the repair, mail it to us and we will clear it.
