B2734-13 reports the passenger occupant detection sensor circuit reading open. Without that sensor, the module cannot tell whether someone is in the passenger seat, so it cannot make the right call about the passenger airbag.
Occupant detection sits in the passenger seat cushion and tells the restraint system whether the seat is empty, holds a child, or holds an adult. That input decides whether the passenger airbag is enabled and at what level. When the circuit to the sensor reads open, the module has no occupancy information and sets B2734-13.
The -13 suffix is the open circuit failure type. An open means the measuring current found no complete path, so the break is either in the wiring, in a connector, or inside the sensor mat itself. The connector under the passenger seat is the first place an open shows up, because it gets unplugged every time the seat comes out.
Code B2734-13 is a live circuit measurement rather than a crash record. The module checks the occupant detection loop on every key cycle, so the code reflects the circuit as it stands right now and clears once continuity is restored. Crash data is the separate, permanent entry a module makes when airbags deploy, and it takes a reset to remove.
A reset does not repair an open circuit. The module tests occupant detection again as soon as the truck is powered up, and the code returns. Repair the wiring or replace the sensor, then let the system relearn and verify the passenger airbag indicator behaves correctly with someone in the seat. Send the module to us only if a deployment record is also stored in it.
B2734-13 belongs to Ram in our lookup. Chrysler built occupant detection systems put the sensing in the passenger seat and report faults through the restraint controller, which is why this shows up as a B code rather than a seat code.
Move the passenger seat all the way back and check the connector underneath first, since an unlatched plug after seat work explains most of these. Flex the harness along the track while watching the circuit for a change.
