B2722 means the occupant restraint controller is sitting in its unlocked state, and in that state every squib circuit in the vehicle is disabled. It is the code a Dodge or Jeep sets when a service replacement module goes in and the initialization routine never gets run. No part has failed. The module is waiting to be told it is installed.
Every occupant restraint controller sold as a service part is shipped in a state that inhibits deployment of all supplemental restraint squib circuits. That is the unlocked condition, and it exists so the module can be shipped, handled, and installed with no chance of firing anything. While it is unlocked the ORC reports B2722, the airbag lamp stays on, and no airbag or pretensioner in the vehicle will deploy.
The initialization procedure is what locks it. Once the ORC is locked, the code is removed from both active and stored status and deployment disable status is no longer monitored. A locked ORC cannot go back to unlocked, which is why a module pulled from another vehicle does not set B2722. This code points at a new service part that was installed and left unfinished.
The routine lives in the scan tool. On a capable Chrysler tool the technician selects the ORC, opens the Miscellaneous menu, and runs Module Initialization. A generic code reader that can display B2722 usually cannot perform it, and that is where most of these vehicles get stuck.
Neither. B2722 is a state flag on a healthy module, and no sensor, loop, or wire is being reported. What it shares with a crash code is the consequence. Deployment is disabled while it is set, so the vehicle has no working restraint system until the module is locked.
Most vehicles that show B2722 got there because the original controller latched crash data in an accident and the shop answered that by installing a new module.
Our reset service does not apply to B2722. There is no stored crash data on an unlocked service module to clear, and initialization is a scan tool procedure performed at the vehicle.
Where we come in is one step earlier. If the original module locked with crash data after a collision, send it to us rather than buying a service ORC. An airbag module reset returns your own module cleared and ready to bolt back in, which keeps the vehicle on the controller it was built with. If the original is damaged past that point, look at a replacement airbag control module or tell us what you are looking for.

Repair the deployed hardware, then decide whether the original module can be cleared before anyone orders a service ORC.
