B1367: Passenger Pretensioner High Resistance

What B1367 means

Hyundai fires the passenger pretensioner through a low resistance squib loop that the module measures every time the system checks itself. The loop runs from the SRSCM, across the floor, and into the connector for the passenger belt hardware. A measurement above the top of the allowed range gets logged as B1367.

Customers rarely notice anything wrong with the belt, because retraction and latching have nothing to do with this circuit. The only symptom is the SRS lamp. That makes the code easy to ignore, and the practical result is a passenger belt that will not pull tight at the start of a crash.

Common causes

• Corrosion on the pins of the connector serving the passenger belt hardware
• A connector partly latched so the terminals make limited contact
• Broken conductor strands in the harness where the passenger seat travels over it
• A terminal backed out of its housing and barely touching
• A pretensioner whose internal resistance has drifted out of range

Crash data or hardware fault?

Everything about B1367 is a present tense measurement. The module reports what the loop reads now, and the code goes away on its own when the reading returns to normal. Crash data does not behave that way at all: once written after a deployment it stays locked in the module and no scan tool removes it.

Does our reset clear it?

Resetting a module does nothing about resistance in a belt circuit. Our service restores modules that are locked on crash data after a deployment, which is a different job from repairing a connector or replacing a pretensioner. Do the circuit repair first. Use the reset afterward only if the module is also holding a recorded deployment.

Which makes throw it

Hyundai reports B1367, the passenger side partner to the driver pretensioner resistance code. Both read through Hyundai scan tools, and the separate numbering means the tool has already told you which side to work on.

What to do next

Open up the connector serving the passenger belt hardware and inspect the terminals, because corrosion and a partial latch are behind most high readings on this circuit. Measure the loop with the connector apart to separate the harness from the pretensioner.
