What B1341 means

Remote crash sensors each get their own pair of wires back to the SRSCM so the module can tell which corner of the car is being hit. Cross coupling means two of those circuits have made electrical contact somewhere, so a signal sent on one appears on the other. The module cannot locate an impact with its inputs tied together, and it disables the system.

This is nearly always a physical wiring problem in a shared section of harness. Where the sensor wires run side by side inside the same loom, damage that cuts through one conductor usually reaches its neighbor. Repair work that bundled wires wrong or splices made in the field produce the same result.

Common causes

• Chafed insulation on two conductors inside the same loom letting them touch
• A previous splice or repair joining the wrong wires
• Crush damage to the harness during a front end collision repair
• Water in a multi-pin connector bridging adjacent sensor pins
• A pin pushed into the wrong cavity when a connector was repaired

Crash data or hardware fault?

Cross coupling is measured continuously by the SRSCM, which puts B1341 in the live fault category. Crash data behaves differently: it is written once after a deployment and locked in memory where a scan tool cannot remove it. Separate the crossed circuits and this code stops returning.

Does our reset clear it?

No reset fixes two wires touching each other. Our mail-in service clears stored crash data and restores the module, and a car with cross coupled sensor circuits will set B1341 again immediately. Find and repair the crossed section first. If the vehicle deployed in a wreck that also damaged this harness, the module reset comes after the wiring is right.

What to do next

Disconnect the sensors at both ends and check continuity between the separate circuits, because that measurement confirms the cross and tells you which two are tied together before you open any loom. Then inspect the shared harness sections, especially anywhere a previous repair or collision touched it.
