SRS fault code

B1335: Passenger Front Sensor Wrong ID

B1335 means the passenger front impact sensor is answering with an identity the SRSCM does not accept for this vehicle. The sensor is talking, but the module says it is the wrong one.

Hardware fault

What B1335 means

Each impact sensor carries an ID code that the restraint control module checks during startup. That ID confirms the sensor matches the calibration the module is running. When the returned ID does not match, the module has no safe way to interpret the sensor's data, so it stores B1335 and disables the system rather than guessing.

This code almost always follows a parts change. A sensor from a different model, a different body style, or a superseded part can bolt in and plug in without complaint while still carrying the wrong identity. The same thing happens when a module is swapped in from another vehicle and expects a different sensor set.

Common causes

Crash data or hardware fault?

Kia files B1335 under hardware because the module is rejecting a component rather than measuring a wire. Nothing about it is permanent. Crash data is the permanent record in these modules, written at deployment and cleared only by resetting the unit.

Does our reset clear it?

Resetting the module does not change which sensors it will accept. Install the wrong sensor again and the wrong ID gets reported again. Matching the part to the vehicle is the fix. If the module also holds crash data from a deployment, that is what our mail-in service clears, and the two issues can exist in the same car.

Which makes throw it

Kia is the make carrying B1335. The passenger front side impact sensor has its own wrong ID code in a different range, so check the number carefully before deciding which sensor to pull.

What to do next

Compare the part number on the installed sensor against what the vehicle originally used, since a mismatched replacement is the usual explanation. Confirm the left and right sensors are on their correct sides. If the parts are right, inspect the connector for a spread or corroded terminal that could be garbling the ID. Call 501-988-0611 if you need help finding the correct OEM sensor. Related codes: B1334, B1346, B1695.
