What EX-11 means

When a Honda SRS unit decides conditions warrant it and commands a restraint to operate, it logs that decision permanently. EX-11 is that log entry. The code is not describing a wire out of range or a sensor that quit reporting, it is telling you the module already did its job at some point in this vehicle's life.

Once that entry exists, the module treats itself as spent. It keeps the SRS light on and refuses to arm, because a unit that has recorded an operation has no way to know whether the restraints downstream of it are still usable. Clearing codes with a scan tool does nothing to this entry, which is the behavior that separates crash data from every live fault.

• A collision that met the deployment threshold and caused the module to command restraints
• A deployment event in the vehicle's history before the current owner bought it
• A salvage or auction vehicle whose module was never restored after the wreck
• A used module installed from a donor car that had already recorded an operation
• A rollover or impact that fired belt pretensioners without firing the front airbags

Crash data or hardware fault?

EX-11 is stored crash data, the permanent kind. The module wrote it during the event and locked it, and no scan tool, battery disconnect, or fuse pull will remove it. Live faults like open or shorted circuits behave the other way around: they update every key cycle and disappear on their own once the circuit reads correctly.
