What B1B0B means

In a healthy firing circuit the feed and return wires only connect through the bridge wire inside the inflator. B1B0B is stored when the controller finds those two conductors joined somewhere else, which drops the resistance far below the expected value. The system is disabled because a shorted loop cannot be relied on to fire the airbag properly.

The distinction matters for diagnosis. A plain low reading could come from a short to ground, while shorted together tells you both squib wires are contacting one another. Look where that pair travels side by side, from the controller connector across the dash to the airbag.

• The squib wire pair crushed or chafed against a bracket behind the dash
• Moisture or corrosion bridging terminals in the yellow SRS connector
• Damage from radio, glovebox, or HVAC work where the pair was pinched
• An inflator shorted across its terminals inside the passenger airbag
• Terminals displaced inside the connector body so they touch each other
