What B1473 means

An inflatable curtain sits folded above the headliner from the front pillar to the rear, with its inflator at one end and a firing loop running down the pillar to the SRSCM. That loop has to stay inside a tight resistance range. A measurement above the ceiling produces B1473, and the module takes the curtain out of service.

Resistance on this circuit climbs for two main reasons: a connection that has corroded, or a connector that was disturbed and never fully reseated. Both are common on a circuit that gets touched during headliner work, pillar trim removal, and windshield replacement, and that sits where roof leaks run down the pillar.

Common causes

• Corroded pins at the curtain airbag connector in the pillar
• A connector reattached after headliner or trim work without latching fully
• Water tracking down the pillar from a roof or windshield leak into the connector
• Harness conductors damaged by a trim clip or fastener driven through the loom
• A curtain inflator whose internal resistance has drifted out of specification

Crash data or hardware fault?

B1473 is a live measurement the module repeats on every system check, so it describes the circuit today rather than anything that happened in the past. Crash data is the permanent category: written once during a deployment, locked into the module, and untouchable with a scan tool.

Does our reset clear it?

Resistance problems do not respond to a module reset. Our service clears locked crash data and restores modules to their factory state after a deployment, which is a separate matter from a corroded pillar connector. Repair the connection or replace the curtain first. Reset the module afterward only if it is holding crash data of its own.

Which makes throw it

Hyundai reports B1473 for the driver side curtain measuring high. The code names the curtain specifically, which keeps it apart from the seat-mounted side airbag codes on the same side of the car.

What to do next

Pull the pillar trim and inspect the curtain connector for corrosion and a proper latch, because those two conditions explain most high readings on this loop and neither costs anything to check.
