B1075 is a general CAN communication fault reported by the Mercedes restraint system. The definition does not name a single partner module, so the useful work is figuring out which part of the bus the control unit lost.
The restraint control unit shares the vehicle CAN bus with the instrument cluster, the body control modules, and the drivetrain controllers. It needs that traffic to know vehicle speed, door status, and other conditions, and it needs the bus to report its own warning light state. B1075 means that communication is faulty from the restraint control unit point of view.
A bus fault rarely lives inside the restraint module. More often it is a wiring problem on the CAN pair, a connector that has corroded, or another module on the bus that has failed in a way that disturbs traffic for everyone. Reading the fault memory of every module on the car, rather than the restraint unit alone, is what turns this vague code into a specific repair.
The restraint control unit evaluates bus traffic continuously, so this is a live fault and it belongs with the circuit codes. It clears when communication is healthy again. Crash data is a permanent record of a deployment held inside the module, and no amount of bus repair touches it, which is where a mail in reset comes in.
Resetting the restraint module will not repair a network problem, and B1075 comes back as soon as the bus misbehaves again. Diagnose the bus on the vehicle: read every module, check voltage, and inspect the CAN wiring. If the restraint control unit is also holding crash data from a deployment, mail it to us and we clear that part while the bus work happens on the car. This code appears under Mercedes-Benz in our lookup. Every make has its own bus fault codes, and the numbering does not carry across, so use Mercedes service information when tracing the network on these vehicles.
Scan every module on the car and write down which ones are missing or reporting bus faults, because the pattern of who cannot talk to whom usually identifies the broken segment. Check battery and charging voltage next, since low voltage drops modules off the network and produces this code without any wiring damage at all. Inspect the CAN pair for chafe and corrosion at connectors and splices before condemning any control unit. Related codes: B1071, B1082, B0001-2B.
Trace the wiring and connectors first. If the module still holds the fault after the repair, mail it to us and we will clear it.
