What B0001-2B means

A squib circuit is a matched pair of wires. When they contact one another, current bypasses the igniter completely and the module sees resistance well below the acceptable window. The 2B suffix in the Ram system identifies that specific condition, which is more useful than a generic circuit fault because it narrows the search to places where the pair is damaged together.

Wires in a pair short to each other when something crushes both at once or when both insulations wear through at the same contact point. Look for pinch damage under trim screws and brackets, and at the clockspring, where the two conductors run side by side on a ribbon that flexes every time the wheel turns.

Common causes

• The wire pair crushed together under a trim screw, clip, or bracket
• A clockspring ribbon worn or cracked so adjacent conductors touch
• Both conductors chafed at a common rub point on the column or lower dash
• Moisture bridging the two terminals inside the airbag connector
• An internal short across the igniter inside the driver airbag
• A repair splice where both wires were joined or taped together incorrectly

Crash data or hardware fault?

The module measures this live, so the code belongs with the circuit family and it clears once the pair is separated again. Crash data never behaves that way. It is written a single time when a bag deploys and remains in module memory permanently, which is what the mail in reset service exists to address.

Does our reset clear it?

Resetting the module changes nothing about two wires touching. Repair the damaged section or replace the clockspring or airbag, whichever testing points to, and verify the resistance is back in range. When the truck was in a crash and the module holds deployment data as well, send it in after the physical repairs and we clear that record.
