What B1067 means

The passenger firing loop runs behind the instrument panel between the diagnosis sensor unit and the airbag. It is supposed to stay electrically isolated from the body of the car. When insulation fails or moisture bridges a connection, the module sees the resistance drop toward ground and records B1067, then disables the system.

Where the short sits determines the repair, and the dash gives it plenty of places to hide. The harness passes metal brackets and sharp panel edges, and water coming in at the cowl or a leaking windshield runs straight down into the same area. Previous dash work that pinched a wire against a bracket produces the same result years later.

Common causes

• Harness insulation worn through where it crosses a dash bracket or panel edge
• A wire pinched against metal during glovebox, heater, or stereo work
• Water intrusion at the cowl or windshield corroding a connector to ground
• A crushed or damaged passenger airbag pigtail
• An inflator that has shorted internally inside the airbag assembly

Crash data or hardware fault?

Everything about B1067 is a present tense reading from the module, so the code disappears once the loop measures clean again. Crash data is the permanent kind: written into memory during a deployment and untouchable with a scan tool. A short to ground is a wiring repair, not a memory problem.

Does our reset clear it?

Do not expect a reset to solve a shorted loop. Repair the short first, verify the loop, and reset the module only if it is also carrying deployment data.

Which makes throw it

Infiniti and Nissan both use B1067 for the passenger airbag circuit shorted to ground. It reads alongside the open circuit code for the same loop, and the number tells you which condition the module measured.

What to do next

Disconnect the passenger airbag and measure from the module side of the loop to chassis ground, because that test separates a shorted inflator from shorted wiring right away. With the airbag out, inspect the harness behind the dash for rub points and check the cowl area for water.
