What B1036 means

Crash zone sensors identify themselves to the diagnosis sensor unit, and the module checks that identity against the configuration the vehicle was built with. A mismatch gets logged as B1036 and the system stays disabled, because the module cannot make crash decisions using a sensor calibrated for a different application.

This is a parts issue rather than an electrical one. Sensors across model lines can share a housing and a connector while carrying different internal calibration, which means one that bolts up perfectly can still be wrong. A control module from a donor vehicle causes the same mismatch from the other direction.
