B00D5 on a Honda points at the front passenger airbag cutoff indicator, the small lamp that tells the passenger their frontal airbag has been switched off. The SRS unit drives that lamp on a dedicated wire and watches it. When the wire opens or shorts to ground, the SRS unit stores B00D5 and turns on the airbag warning light.
Honda's occupant detection system weighs and reads the front passenger seat and decides whether the frontal airbag on that side should be armed. Honda's owner documentation puts the cutoff range at roughly 7 to 65 pounds on the seat, and inside that range the system disables the passenger frontal airbag and lights the passenger airbag off indicator. At every power on the lamp lights, goes out after a few seconds while the system checks itself, then settles into whatever the classification calls for.
B00D5 covers the circuit that drives that lamp. Honda writes the subcode version as B00D5-14, open or short to ground in the front passenger's airbag cutoff indicator, and the factory confirmation procedure is simple: turn the vehicle to the ON mode and wait about nine seconds. Honda lists three possible causes: an open or short to ground between the SRS unit and the indicator on the line the manual labels OFF PTT, an internal failure in the indicator, and an internal failure in the SRS unit.
Be clear about what this code does not say. The seat sensors and the detection logic can be working perfectly while B00D5 is stored. What has failed is the reporting, so nobody in the front seat can see what the system decided.
Circuit. B00D5 is a live measurement on a lamp circuit and holds no record of a collision. Honda's own troubleshooting opens with a warning that matters here: before working the code, find out whether the vehicle has been in a collision, and if so verify that every required component was replaced with the correct new part. Plenty of these come from a repair where the dash was apart and something did not go back together.
No. Clearing the code sends the light out until the SRS unit rechecks the circuit, which happens within seconds of the next power on. Repair the wiring or replace the indicator. Honda's procedure measures the indicator drive wire between the SRS unit connector and the indicator connector and expects one ohm or less, then checks that pin against body ground and expects an open. This wording is Honda's, from the newer alphanumeric DTC format that the factory scan tool reads, and the subcode after the dash is part of the definition. Honda's older two digit list reports the same fault as a 92 code with a suffix, so an early 2000s Honda showing the passenger cutoff indicator problem reads differently on the screen. Several other manufacturers also use B00D5 under a generic heading for a restraint system passenger disable indicator, so the number by itself does not tell you the make.
Read the code with a tool that shows the subcode, because the two digits after the dash tell you which failure Honda documented. Then check what else is stored. Honda's instruction is to troubleshoot other codes first, and a weight sensor code sitting alongside this one changes the order of work.
From there it is a wiring job. Disconnect the battery, wait, and measure the indicator drive line for continuity and for a short to ground before replacing any part.
