What B0053 means

B0053 deployment commanded tells you the vehicle was in a crash and the airbag control module sent the command to fire the restraints. When that happens, the module permanently writes that event into memory. From then on it holds a locked record of the deployment, which is why the SRS light stays on and the module will not arm fresh airbags.

This code will not clear with a standard OBD-II scan tool. That is by design. A deployment record is meant to be permanent so the system cannot be casually wiped. Clearing it takes restoring the module's memory back to its factory state, which is the work we do.
