What B0010-13 means

The passenger airbag mounts in the instrument panel and fires through an igniter wired back to the control module. There is no clockspring in this path, which simplifies the diagnosis considerably. The circuit consists of the module pin, the dash harness, the connector at the bag, and the igniter winding inside it.

With nothing rotating in the circuit, an open here usually means a connection problem or physical damage rather than wear. Glovebox removal, radio and HVAC work, and accessory installs all put hands right next to the passenger airbag connector, and a plug that gets bumped loose reads exactly like a failed inflator.

Common causes

• The yellow airbag connector under the dash not fully latched after glovebox or radio work
• A shorting bar in the connector that did not release when the plug was seated
• An open igniter winding inside the passenger airbag inflator
• Harness damage behind the instrument panel from previous repairs
• Corroded terminals from water entering at the cowl or windshield seal
• Backed out or spread pins at the airbag control module connector

Crash data or hardware fault?

The reading is live, so this is a circuit code in the plainest sense. It reflects continuity at this moment and clears when the loop is whole. Stored crash data is the other kind of entry entirely: written once at deployment, permanent, and removable only through a module reset after the truck is repaired.

Does our reset clear it?

Do not send a module in for this one by itself. An open passenger squib circuit is a condition on the truck, and clearing memory leaves it exactly where it was. Repair the connector, harness, or airbag first. If the truck deployed and the module also holds crash data, that is when our mail in reset finishes the job.
