What 41 means

The right side airbag loop runs from the control unit, under the carpet and along the floor, to a connector near the passenger seat and up to the airbag itself. The module measures that loop and expects a specific range. A reading outside it sets code 41, and the definition points at the harness or the module rather than the bag alone.

Side airbag wiring takes more abuse than most people expect. It passes seat rails, sill trim, and floor areas that get wet on a rainy day, and it gets unplugged every time a seat comes out of the car. Those are the spots where an otherwise healthy circuit goes bad, and they are worth checking before any part gets ordered.

This code follows a live electrical measurement, so it clears once the circuit reads correctly and the system passes startup. Crash data is the other category and it does not behave that way. It is written when airbags fire, stays in the module permanently, and requires a module reset to remove.

Does our reset clear it?

A module reset does not fix a harness fault. The control unit measures the right side loop again at the next key on and stores the code. Repair the connector or the wiring, verify the loop reads in range, and confirm the lamp stays out.
