What 0X930985 means

A roof-rail curtain is a long fabric tube folded above the headliner from the A-pillar back to the C-pillar. One igniter fills the whole thing, and the ACSM monitors that igniter's circuit for resistance, shorts to power, and shorts to ground. When it reads chassis potential on the left curtain circuit, it records 0X930985 and stops arming the system.

The wiring for this bag hides behind trim that gets removed for more jobs than most people expect. Windshield replacement, headliner drops, sunroof repair, and pillar trim removal all put the curtain harness in reach. The curtain also mounts with tabs along the rail, and a pinched wire under one of those tabs looks identical at the module to a failed igniter.

Common causes

• Harness pinched under a curtain mounting tab or a pillar trim clip
• Damage during windshield, headliner, or sunroof service
• Water from a plugged sunroof drain or bad windshield seal reaching the connector
• An internally shorted curtain igniter
• A connector left unlatched or only partly seated after trim work
• Insulation worn through where the harness passes over a roof rail edge

Crash data or hardware fault?

This one is a live electrical fault. The ACSM measures the curtain circuit, reports what it finds, and drops the entry when the reading returns to normal. Stored crash data is not a measurement and does not respond to repairs. It is created when the curtain fires and it stays locked in module memory afterward.

Does our reset clear it?

Fix the short before you think about clearing anything, because the module runs a fresh check at the next start and finds the same problem. Once the circuit is right the code clears normally. A curtain that has already deployed is a different job. The bag, and often the pillar trim and headliner, need replacing, and the ACSM needs our mail-in reset to release the stored crash record.

What to do next

Ask what work the car has had recently, since a curtain code right after a windshield or headliner job points straight at the connector that was disturbed.
