What 0X930907 means

Dual stage driver airbags carry two independent squibs so the module can choose a softer or harder deployment based on crash severity and occupant data. Each squib gets its own pair of wires and its own monitoring. When the module reads chassis potential on the stage 2 pair, it stores 0X930907 and treats the whole restraint system as unsafe to arm.

Because both stages run through the same clockspring and the same connector body, a physical problem often affects one stage before the other. Stage 2 conductors sit at different positions in the ribbon and the connector, so wear, moisture, or a bent terminal can reach one pair while leaving the other reading normal for a while longer.

• Clockspring ribbon wear that has reached the stage 2 conductors
• A crushed or chafed harness section under the dash contacting body metal
• Moisture in the steering column connector creating a ground path on the stage 2 pins
• A stage 2 inflator shorted internally within the driver airbag assembly
• A bent or pushed-back terminal in the airbag connector touching the connector shield
• Damage from a prior steering wheel, column, or airbag replacement

Crash data or hardware fault?

The ACSM is describing a condition it can measure at this moment, so 0X930907 counts as a live fault. Repair the short and the entry goes away on its own. Stored crash data has no relationship to current wiring condition. It is the record of a deployment, written once and kept permanently, and clearing codes never touches it.

Does our reset clear it?

Skip the reset until the electrical work is done. A short to ground on a firing loop is a real defect, and the module will find it again immediately. Once the stage 2 circuit reads correctly, the code clears normally. Where the car has been through a crash and the ACSM holds that event in memory, mail the module to us and we clear the deployment record after the repairs.

Which makes throw it

0X930907 is specific to BMW and to vehicles with a dual stage driver airbag managed by an ACSM. The hex code appears in BMW diagnostic software rather than in generic scan tool listings.

What to do next

Check whether stage 1 codes are present alongside this one, since two staged faults together point strongly at the clockspring or the connector rather than at the inflator. Unplug the airbag and remeasure to isolate bag from harness. If the clockspring is worn, replace it as an assembly, and if the inflator is shorted the airbag module itself is the part to change out.
