What B220B-00 means

When the ORC decides a crash is happening, it releases stored firing energy into the airbags and pretensioners it selects. The moment it does that, it writes a record in protected memory. B220B-00 is that record. It is not a complaint about a circuit or a sensor, it is the module saying deployment already happened in this vehicle.

That record is designed to be permanent. A scan tool can clear ordinary fault codes, but it cannot touch this one, and disconnecting the battery does nothing either. The module stays locked with the airbag lamp on until the deployment data is cleared with equipment built for it, which is what our mail-in service does.

• A frontal, side, or rollover event severe enough for the module to fire the restraints
• Airbags or pretensioners deployed during a collision, however minor the body damage looked
• A module bought used out of a vehicle that had already deployed

This is stored crash data in its purest form. It is written once, it stays written, and no amount of code clearing at the vehicle removes it. Live circuit faults are the other category, where the module reports a resistance or continuity reading as it finds it and the code disappears the moment the circuit is repaired.

Does our reset clear it?

For B220B-00 the mail-in module reset is the actual fix, once the physical repairs are complete. Replace the deployed airbags, pretensioners, and any damaged sensors or wiring first, then pull the module and ship it to us. We clear the stored deployment data and return the module ready to install. Reinstalling it before the restraints are replaced only puts the light back on for a different reason.
