What B1364 means

Pretensioner loops are isolated circuits. The SRSCM drives them, measures them, and expects nothing else on the line. When vehicle voltage appears, the module stores B1364 because it cannot rule out a path that could fire the pretensioner outside its control. The system stays disabled while that condition exists.

The driver pretensioner harness travels through the sill and the pillar, which is also where door wiring, courtesy lighting, and speaker wiring run. Any of those carries power. A connector packed with moisture or a harness crushed by a trim clip can tie a powered wire to the firing loop without any visible damage from outside.

Common causes

• A firing wire chafed against a powered circuit in the sill or pillar
• Moisture bridging terminals inside the pretensioner connector
• A harness pinched by a sill trim clip or a seat bolt during reassembly
• Aftermarket wiring run along the sill for audio or lighting
• An internally shorted pretensioner assembly

Crash data or hardware fault?

B1364 is a live reading, so it disappears from the active list once the extra voltage is gone. The permanent category in these modules is crash data, which is written at the moment of deployment and cannot be cleared with a scan tool no matter how many times it is tried.

Does our reset clear it?

Clearing the code will not remove the voltage. The module tests the loop again and stores B1364 again, usually before the vehicle leaves the bay. Locate the contact point and repair it. Our reset service applies to Kia modules that are locked with crash data after a deployment.

Which makes throw it

Kia lists B1364 for the driver front pretensioner. Its passenger side equivalent and the low resistance version of the same circuit carry their own numbers, so the code you pull already narrows the job.

What to do next

Remove the driver sill plate and pillar trim and look for a crushed or rubbed harness before testing anything, since a physical contact point is the usual answer.
