What B1328 means

Front impact sensors are small accelerometers with their own electronics, bolted to the structure ahead of the passenger compartment. They run internal checks and report their health to the SRSCM. When the driver side sensor reports a failure or returns readings the module recognizes as invalid, B1328 is the result.

Hyundai uses separate codes for harness shorts, communication problems, and sensor identity, so this one has already pointed past the wiring. That is useful, though it is still worth confirming power, ground, and a clean connection before replacing a part. A sensor starved by a corroded connector can look like a failed sensor.

• Internal electronic failure inside the impact sensor
• Impact damage from a collision or a hard hit to the front of the car
• Water intrusion into the sensor housing from road spray or a front end leak
• Corrosion at the sensor connector affecting the supply the sensor runs on
• A sensor that was reused after a previous deployment event

Crash data or hardware fault?

B1328 describes a component that has gone bad rather than a loop out of range, which is why Hyundai files it as a hardware fault. Crash data is separate again: a permanent entry the module writes after a deployment that no scan tool erases. A module can carry both at once after a front end collision.

Does our reset clear it?

Restoring the module does not repair a failed sensor, and installing a reset module in a car with a dead sensor gives you the same light and the same code. Replace the sensor first.
