What B1210 means

Side impacts happen fast, and the module relies on satellite sensors out at the doors and pillars to make the call. Once it commands the side and curtain airbags to deploy, it writes B1210 into permanent memory and locks itself out of further service. The record stays with the module, not with the vehicle.

The lock is deliberate. A control unit that has already fired its outputs is not allowed to arm a new set of airbags until someone clears the event, which keeps a repaired vehicle from being signed off with hidden crash history in the electronics. Until that happens, the SRS light stays on and the system stays disabled.

Common causes

• A side impact strong enough for the module to fire the side and curtain airbags
• Deployed seat side airbags that have to be replaced
• A deployed curtain airbag on the struck side, along with its mounting hardware
• Satellite sensors damaged in the same impact
• A used module installed from a vehicle that had already recorded a side deployment

Crash data or hardware fault?

B1210 is crash data. A scan tool can read it and cannot erase it, which is by design. Circuit codes behave differently: they reflect a resistance measurement the module repeats constantly, and they clear themselves once the circuit is repaired. Crash data needs the module to be reset.

Does our reset clear it?

Our mail-in reset clears B1210 and any other stored deployment data from the module, and it comes back ready to arm a repaired system. Timing matters. Finish the side airbag, curtain, and sensor replacement first, because putting a cleared module into a car with deployed hardware just sets new codes and turns the light back on.

Which makes throw it

Nissan and Infiniti both write B1210 after a side deployment, and we reset control units for both. Send the module in and we handle the crash data side of the repair.

What to do next

Work out which side fired and list every deployed part, because side and curtain deployments usually take seat components, trim, and sensors with them.
