What B1064 means

A54/1 mirrors its driver side counterpart. It measures the forces that indicate a side impact on the passenger side and reports to the restraint control unit, which uses that input to decide whether the side airbag and the window airbag should fire. B1064 is the entry made when the sensor fails its internal checks or sends data the control unit cannot treat as valid.

A defective sensor code is a component verdict, and it usually stands up. The control unit is not guessing from a resistance measurement. It is reacting to the sensor own status reporting.
